A perfect wedding day on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. Cartagena is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A colonial architecture, infrastructures, hotels, rooftops suitable for welcome cocktails. Beautiful church and cathedral. And a sense of security and quality of life in the center of the citadel. In short, I know now why Tatiana and her mom from ccc Event Planning insisted so much on the fact that it would be a magical wedding.

I had the chance to meet Tatiana during a beautiful wedding in Saint Tropez. The bride had Latino origins and she came with her to give a Latino touch to her wedding.

First contact with our bride and groom in the heart of the old colonial city welcomed by a troupe of dancers under the drums and the latino tunes. The occasion of a nice cocktail on one of the many superb rooftop of the city with a perfect view on the modern and ancient city.

Wedding Day – Santa Clara Sofitel Legend Cartagena

The Sofitel Legend Santa Clara is one of the most emblematic and luxurious hotels in Cartagena. Modernity and old walls, huge colonial halls, sumptuous terraces to welcome your guests, superb suites, the hotel Santa Clara is a place of reception impossible to circumvent for the marriages. The reception hall is an old chapel of the XVII° Century. And when you open the door, you can only be impressed.

Even when I fly, I always travel with a kit of accessories in order to stage the wedding cardboard, shoes, jewelry.
This explains why I was able to coordinate with the fabulous team at CCC Event Planning to take advantage of the bride and groom’s preparation time to stage some things in “Flat Lays”.

Usually I work with two photographers, but on this wedding I was alone. Despite this, I wanted to keep a rhythm in the images to give the feeling that the wedding preparation was happening at the same time as if I had two photographers. I always do this in weddings. My first goal is to make important images for the bride and groom, to capture the emotional moments, the portraits of the guests, the family. And I add my touch by pacing the images with an editorial style. It’s not easy but it’s what characterizes my approach the most. To have a magazine rendering at all times while covering the key images of a wedding.

Wedding Ceremony – Catedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandria – Cartagena de Indias

The advantage of the American culture is that two days before we did the rehearsals with the wedding planner agency and the family in the beautiful Santa Catalina Cathedral. The particularity of Colombia is that weddings are done at night, in the evening because it is less hot. For me, I admit it’s another way of working because I like so much the natural light, and in the south of France, in summer it’s dark at 9pm, not at 6pm.

The beautiful wedding ceremony took place in this cathedral, a key and historical monument in the center of Cartagena.
An antique car typical of the clichés that one would have of Havana was waiting for the bride and groom at the exit. This gave us time to take some night pictures before joining a procession under the drums and dancers in traditional dresses to welcome the guests at the Welcome Cocktails on the large terrace with sea view of the Santa Clara Legends Sofitel hotel.
