In First, I am deeply grateful to Tatiana and Carmen of CCC Event Planning, a remarkable wedding planner family with whom I’ve had the privilege of collaborating on incredible events around the globe. Our journey began in Saint-Tropez, where her unmatched creativity and meticulous attention to detail left a lasting impression on me. Since then, I’ve had the honor of documenting her events, including a breathtaking wedding in Cartagena, Colombia. Her exceptional artistry has also brought me to Miami multiple times, where she transforms dreams into stunning realities, inspiring my work as a destination wedding photographer.

Welcome Dinner at Marker 88 – A Tropical Elegance

Marker 88, a legendary restaurant nestled in the heart of Islamorada, provided the perfect backdrop for a stunning welcome dinner that epitomized tropical sophistication. The setting was an embodiment of the laid-back charm of the Florida Keys, with views of the glistening Gulf waters and the vibrant hues of a setting sun. The restaurant’s iconic beachfront ambiance was brought to life with an exquisitely curated decor featuring lush hibiscus blooms, echoing the fiery tones of the bride’s striking red floral gown. The hibiscus, a symbol of delicate beauty and exotic allure, adorned both the space and the guests’ experience, seamlessly tying together the theme of tropical elegance. Guests, dressed in crisp white linen ensembles, exuded a sense of refined cohesion, creating an aesthetic contrast that enhanced the evening’s visual narrative. The setting invited a mingling of cultures and styles, celebrating both the Keys’ unpretentious allure and the glamour befitting a destination wedding.

From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was one of joyful anticipation, as laughter mingled with the gentle lapping of waves. The evening was meticulously planned to create a relaxed yet festive mood, with candlelit tables adorned with exotic arrangements of red blooms and lush greenery. Each detail, from the seating arrangements to the personalized menus, reflected a commitment to offering a warm, inviting experience. The timeless charm of Marker 88—known for its fresh seafood and iconic sunsets—was elevated by the creative vision of the wedding team, ensuring that every moment was infused with a sense of artistry and intention.

The Venue, Story, Decor, and Preparations

Miami and the Florida Keys offer an unparalleled blend of vibrant tropical energy and tranquil coastal elegance, making them ideal settings for destination weddings. In this particular celebration, the venue (Tea Table Key Island) was chosen not just for its breathtaking location but for its ability to host an unforgettable fusion of French country charm and lush tropical ambiance. Overlooking azure waters, the property boasted open-air spaces and garden terraces, ideal for creating an intimate yet grand atmosphere. From the moment guests arrived, they were immersed in a carefully curated design aesthetic that balanced tradition with innovation. The use of Toile de Jouy linens, a nod to timeless French artistry, set the tone for sophistication. These intricate patterns in muted tones paired beautifully with the natural surroundings, from swaying palm trees to fragrant blooms of bougainvillea and roses.

The story of the couple unfolded in the details. Each element, from the calligraphy on custom invitations to the delicate floral installations that framed the altar, told a narrative of love and elegance. Preparations began early in the day, with the bride and groom savoring moments in serene private quarters. As a photographer, capturing these quiet, heartfelt exchanges is a privilege—the bride’s laughter as she was surrounded by her bridal party, the groom’s steady composure as he adjusted his cufflinks in a sunlit room. The outdoor ceremony, with its ocean backdrop and gentle breeze, was a picture-perfect vignette. Here, every element of the decor—handwoven chairs, lanterns lining the aisle, and softly draped fabric—seamlessly enhanced the natural beauty of the Keys. As the vows were exchanged, the interplay of light and shadow created imagery that spoke to the raw emotions of the day.

Styling, Dinner, and Evening Celebration

The wedding styling brought together elegance, personality, and cultural inspiration, creating a visual symphony that delighted every guest. The bride’s gown, a custom-made piece featuring intricate lace detailing and a flowing silhouette, perfectly complemented the setting. Her look was finished with minimal yet impactful accessories—a pair of pearl drop earrings and a classic veil with delicate embroidery. The groom matched her sophistication in a bespoke linen suit, paired with leather loafers that nodded to Miami’s effortless style. The bridal party mirrored the palette of the decor, dressed in shades of soft blue and blush that resonated with the Toile de Jouy and floral arrangements, blending seamlessly into the picturesque surroundings.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the dinner reception came alive, hosted under an enchanting canopy of lights and surrounded by tropical flora. Tables were adorned with artisanal tableware, hand-calligraphed place cards, and cascading centerpieces of seasonal flowers. The menu offered a fusion of local flavors and refined French cuisine, with dishes crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Guests savored each course, from refreshing ceviche starters to decadent desserts featuring tropical fruits. As a photographer, I was drawn to capturing these intimate, joyful moments—the sparkle of champagne flutes during toasts, the gentle candlelight illuminating conversations, and the heartfelt laughter shared across tables.

The evening transitioned into a celebration of love and life. A live band set the tone with a mix of classic tunes and upbeat rhythms, drawing everyone to the dance floor. The couple’s first dance, framed by the glow of lanterns and the sound of waves, became a magical moment that symbolized their journey. Later, as the party gained momentum, spontaneous and candid scenes unfolded, from children playing under the stars to older guests swaying in time to the music. Each frame I captured told a unique story—of elegance, celebration, and the beauty of a destination wedding in Miami and the Keys. My goal was not just to document the day but to transform these fleeting moments into timeless memories, embodying the magic and romance of this iconic region.
