Joyful Destination Wedding in Abidjan, Ivory Coast
Fatima lives in Boston, USA. Jean-Bernard lives in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. For their wedding, they decided to dive into the African culture and embrace the traditions. They planned a typical Ivorian destination wedding. 5 days of spicy festivity. Mid-February was a good choice as the weather was not too hot. The bride got prepared with her closest friends in a private house. As the girls were getting ready they played with balloons in the bedroom while enjoying a cocktail. When the bride offered her bridesmaids golden bracelets they were surprised and deeply touched by this kind present. I took the opportunity to shoot the beautiful green ring matching the cards as well as the bride’s jewels. I also took portraits of the ladies in their beautiful colored dresses. Fatima was wearing a vintage, classic and elegant wedding dress. When Jean-Bernard first saw his bride he simply couldn’t stop smiling. They laughed together, walking hand in hand towards the church for the wedding ceremony.

The wedding ceremony took place in the catholic church in Riviera. When the priest gave his blessing, guests expressed their joy by offering baskets of fresh fruits and wine to the couple. We then headed to Abidjan Golf Club and walked in the green gardens for a couple photo session. Far away from the city, at the border of the forrest the atmosphere was almost surreal at the bottom of the high palm trees. Back to reality on the next day where a typical brunch was served for family and friends. The newlyweds made incredible appearances and changed several times for traditional African outfits. What a colorful, spicy, happy wedding. A destination wedding filled with local music, swaying dances, delicious food and traditional outfits.
